Mostafa Farghal
Student Representative (2023-2025)
My passion for animal behavior and welfare started since I was an undergraduate student and continued after my graduation from Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Assiut University, Egypt in 2013.
During my master’s, I worked on sheep behaviour and welfare, especially on the effect of different seasons on ram sexual behaviour, testosterone concentration, and scrotal circumference. In addition, I worked on improving the twinning rate in Egyptian ewes until I got my master’s degree in 2019 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Minia University, Egypt.
In 2021, I started my doctoral journey at the University of Calgary, Canada with focus on beef cattle behaviour and welfare specifically using facial expressions and qualitative behavior assessment method to identify pain in beef calves, as swift and reliable pain diagnosis is the first crucial step to effective pain management and therapy improving overall animal welfare.
My first in person experience with ISAE conference was in Ohrid, North Macedonia where I felt that I have to be an effective member of this esteemed community.
