Upcoming Regional Meeting 2023

The UK & Ireland regional conference is being held at Harper Adams University on 27 April 2023. Registration is now open for that and you can register at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/isae-uk-ireland-regional-conference-2023-tickets-483720580277. Registration is £40 for full paying persons and £25 for students. This includes tea/coffee and lunch on the day. Students, please send on a copy of your student card to this email address when you register. There is no theme for this conference so we would very much welcome anything which fits the remit of the ISAE. We are delighted to be joined by Professor Francoise Wemelsfelder as our keynote speaker.

Abstract submission

Abstract submission is also open, with a submission deadline of 28 February. We would be delighted to receive your abstracts. There is no theme for this conference so we would very much welcome anything which fits the remit of the ISAE. Please submit your abstracts via email to this address using the title ‘ISAE abstract’. Please ensure you save the file name as your surname and submit it as a .doc or .docx file. We would welcome both oral and poster presentations - please specify your preference (Full presentation: 15 minutes plus questions; speed presentation: 5 minutes plus questions; poster).

Funding to support conference attendance

This year we are in a position to support some student members of the UK & Ireland branch of the ISAE to attend the conference. Please note this only covers travel and accommodation, it does not cover the conference fee, as the conference fee is already offered at a reduced rate for students to support attendance. In order to qualify you must be a member of the ISAE, and you must have an abstract accepted for presentation. To apply for funding support you must return the attached form along with a short CV by 5pm on 28 February 2023.

Conference social

We will be planning a social event and dinner the evening before the conference (26 April) at The Lamb Inn (https://ourlocal.pub/pubs/lamb-inn-edgmond/food-and-drink/), which is just down the road from Harper Adams. If you would like to attend please let us know via email so we have approximate numbers, and also please do let us know any catering requirements.

Collaboration with the Animal Welfare Research Network

Harper Adams are hosting an Animal Welfare Research Network (AWRN) workshop on human-animal interactions on the 26 April 2023 (further details here https://awrn.co.uk/event/awrn-workshop-on-machine-human-animal-interactions/). This is open only to members of the AWRN however we have decided to host them next to one another to enable attendees wishing to attend both to maximise attendance for their travel time. Membership is free and there are numerous benefits to membership beyond attending their workshops, more information on eligibility can be found here: https://awrn.co.uk/membership/. Researchers based outside the UK (including those in Ireland) are welcome to apply for membership, however AWRN are only able to accept one representative for each non-UK institution. If your organisation is already represented but you are keen to attend the workshop, then please get in touch with the Network Manager (Poppy) on  and she will advise you on what to do.
