Jaime Figueroa Hamed

Dr. Jaime Figueroa is an associate Professor at the Institute of Agricultural, Animal and Environmental Sciences (ICA3) belonging to the University of O'Higgins, Chile. Jaime is a Veterinarian (Universidad de Chile) and PhD in Animal Production from the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona. For more than 12 years he has carried out basic and applied research associated with post-weaning nutrition, studying among other topics, the effect of associative learning and stress on flavor perception and early feed intake in pigs and other mammals. He has directed the experimental center for pigs CICAP (2017-2021) and the master's program in animal production systems at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (2021-2022), having also participated as a permanent member in the ethics and animal care committee of that institution (2018-2021). Now, he is exploring the effect of specific sensory satiety in intensive pig productions, and the effect of conditioned taste aversion in lambs.

There are nearly 700 members worldwide and each year the Society assembles for a major International Congress, where in addition to addresses by special keynote speakers, members present their latest research findings. There are also regular regional conferences held to encourage local knowledge exchange.
