PhD position on rooting motivation in fattening pigs

Agroscope / Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO), Switzerland

The Centre for Proper Housing: Ruminants and Pigs at Agroscope / Swiss Federal Food Safety and Veterinary Office (FSVO) is looking for a PhD student to join a four-year research project investigating rooting motivation in fattening pigs. The successful candidate will conduct experimental studies at our research farm as well as field studies on commercial farms, in collaboration with the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture (FiBL).

As the project involves close collaboration with Swiss farmers, a good command of German would be an advantage. This PhD position is a great opportunity for a motivated researcher interested in animal behaviour, animal welfare, and applied research in pig husbandry.
