PhD graduate student opportunity in beef bull behaviour and reproduction

University of Calgary, Canada

The successful candidate will conduct research on the social behaviour of beef bulls and its impact on reproduction. The foundational study aims to understand whether grouping bulls based on their behaviour measured by direct observation and remote monitoring technology before the breeding season can reduce fighting, negative health events (e.g., injuries), and improve their reproductive performance. In addition to this initial study, the successful applicant will be expected to develop additional studies addressing the welfare of beef bulls.
