I am a Research Scientist within the CSIRO Animal Behaviour and Welfare team in Armidale, Australia. I completed my PhD at the University of Auckland followed by postdoctoral fellowships at the University of Guelph, Michigan State University and the University of New England, Armidale prior to starting with CSIRO. I have been assessing the welfare of livestock and their adaptation to housing systems for almost 10 years working with mink, poultry, sheep, and cattle. I have a specific interest in understanding the impacts of developmental environments on animal behaviour, stress, cognition, and welfare. I apply precision technology to measure the behaviour of individual animals including RFID technology for free-range laying hens and virtual fencing technology for cattle.
