Dr Yifei Yang recently completed a PhD in animal welfare at the University of Queensland, with a focus on the welfare of freshwater fish during live transport. This research was part of the international Animal Welfare Standards Project (https://animal-toolbox.org/), conducted in collaboration with Zhejiang University (China) and the University of Stirling (UK). Yifei’s expertise includes animal welfare science, behaviour, physiology, husbandry, transport practices, and social science methods. Yifei has 11 peer-reviewed publications, including five as first author. Currently serving as Senior Editor of Animal Behaviour and Welfare Cases (CABI), Yifei has also held a fellowship under the International Farm Animal Welfare Fellowship programme. Yifei was one of the awardees of the 2023 ISAE Developing Countries Congress Attendance Fellowship (DCCAF) and attended the first ISAE Congress in Estonia that year.

There are also regular regional conferences held to encourage local knowledge exchange.
