Fiona Travel Award Funding Campaign
Fiona Travel Award Funding Campaign
The Animal Welfare Foundation of Canada (AWFC) is establishing the Dr. Fiona Rioja-Lang Travel Award, a travel award for animal welfare professionals and students in Canada to attend conferences, workshops, and short courses in their field and for international individuals to attend the same in Canada. It is designed to do exactly what Fiona did throughout her career: connect people, open doors, and keep great ideas for animals moving across borders.
Each year, the award will provide up to $2,500 to two or three recipients to help cover the cost of attending an animal welfare event, anywhere in the world. The AWFC is proud to host this award because Fiona was such a central part of our community, and because we believe the best way to honour her is to keep her work going.
We are launching the award on October 16th, Fiona's birthday, and our goal is to raise enough funds to fully support the first round of awards and lay the foundation for a long-term endowment that will carry her legacy forward for years to come.
At the AWFC, we would be very grateful if you could share this funding campaign during the AGM or the upcoming ISAE conference, and with anyone you think would like to support this initiative, either by donating or by sharing it widely. We have created two ways to support this campaign:
1. Visiting the award page that includes the donation link and sharing the case for support attached to this email: https://awfc.ca/the-dr-fiona-
2. Joining the mailing list to keep you in the loop as the campaign moves forward:
