The Department of Animal Science, University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez Campus, is seeking candidates for a
9-month tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor with a PhD in Animal Sciences, with emphasis in
Welfare of farm animals (e.g., Swine or Poultry). The appointment is 75% teaching and 25% research. The
candidate will teach courses related to non-ruminant farm animals and perform research tasks in poultry or
swine, with emphasis on animal welfare. The selected person will contribute to the growth and development of
research and teaching in their area of expertise. Research programs should address issues of relevance to the
local and international animal industry including the dissemination of information to farmers and industry
professionals. The candidate will fund the research program with federal or other extramural grants. The
candidate will collaborate with colleagues on and off Campus, as well as industry leaders, and foster a positive
and highly productive work environment. The candidate will also actively advise undergraduate and graduate.
