African Bioacoustics, Cape Town, South Africa

The first African Bioacoustics Community conference will be held in Cape Town, South Africa on the 3rd to 7th December 2018

Individuals interested in any aspects of Bioacoustic research on any taxa are invited to participate in this event under the broad theme: 'Developing a Communication Network'.  

The aim of the conference is to promote the research currently taking place on the African continent and highlight areas for development and future collaboration in this broad field of research.

The ABC conference 2018 is hosted by the University of Cape Town, the Centre for Statistics in Ecology, the Environment and Conservation (http://www.seec.uct.ac.za/), and Sea Search Research and Conservation (www.seasearch.co.za).

The organisers anticipate the conference will be of interest to a wide range of scientists including terrestrial and marine field ecologists, oceanographers, behavioral scientists, engineers, and statisticians. They welcome participation from academics, students, NGO's, consultancies and government agencies.

There are nearly 700 members worldwide and each year the Society assembles for a major International Congress, where in addition to addresses by special keynote speakers, members present their latest research findings. There are also regular regional conferences held to encourage local knowledge exchange.
