Survey on COVID impacts on research
On behalf of ISAE member Irene Camerlink:
Dear fellow animal behaviour & welfare researchers,
Most of us have faced in the last few months a complete change in our working lives. For some, this may have been a positive experience whereas for others, it may have been extremely challenging. This may have short- and long-term knock-on effects on our research and well-being.
To assess the impact of the pandemic on our field of research, as well as the challenges faced by you all, we would like to ask for your participation in our survey.
Its aim is to assess how animal behaviour and welfare researchers have been affected in the last months and whether there are specific situations that require attention.
This survey is meant for all animal behaviour and welfare researchers and PhD students. We particularly encourage researchers with young children to fill out the questions. Giving around 15 minutes of your time will not only help to create research insight, but also will help you to reflect for yourself on the past few months.
The results will soon after be submitted to the ISAE Special Issue ‘COVID-19; Rethinking the environment’ in Applied Animal Behaviour Science.

There are nearly 700 members worldwide and each year the Society assembles for a major International Congress, where in addition to addresses by special keynote speakers, members present their latest research findings. There are also regular regional conferences held to encourage local knowledge exchange.
