Livestock Welfare Scientist (Full-time permanent)

The Agri-Food and Biosciences Institute (AFBI) is looking to recruiting a farm animal welfare researcher to expand its animal welfare unit, which currently consists of several researchers and PhD students and is part of the Livestock Production Sciences Branch located in Hillsborough (Northern Ireland).
The successful candidate will conduct research on multiple aspects of animal welfare (e.g., behaviour, health, physiology) across the main farmed livestock species. The role also includes the dissemination of results through scientific and popular articles and presentations, participating in the acquisition of project funding and collaborating with academic and industry partners within and outside of AFBI.
The first project the successful candidate will be assigned to is likely one on the use of thermography to detect welfare problems in dairy cows.
