PhD student position on behaviour and welfare of mink

Department of Animal Science & Aquaculture, University of Dalhousie
Truro, Canada

We are recruiting a PhD student for a project at the Agricultural Campus of Dalhousie University
in Truro, Nova Scotia, Canada. The project will involve investigating how aspects of cage size and
design (e.g. type and placement of the nest box) affect the behaviour and welfare of mink. It will
inform best practices for farms in North America and can have applications to other captive
mustelids and perhaps carnivores more broadly. Ideal candidates will have an MSc in animal
science, zoology or related fields, some experience in behavioural observations and working
with animals, and be independent and motivated.
