Studies on the links between animal play and animal welfare

The laboratory's research program on animal play aims to answer the following set of related questions: why did play evolve, what can it tell us about animal welfare, and what are the effects of play on animal welfare? Domestic piglets will be used as an ideal model species for these investigations.

One position is available, for either a master's (MSc) or a doctorate (PhD) in animal science. Projects carried out will depend in part on the student's interests.

There are also regular regional conferences held to encourage local knowledge exchange.
