A PhD or Postdoc position will begin in January 2024 at Virginia Tech in the School of Animal Sciences studying shelter dog behavior & welfare.
This position’s primary focus will be investigating human-animal interaction with dogs awaiting adoption using a hybrid fostering intervention. Dogs will be available for adoption within the community during the day & spend their nights with foster caregivers.
The highly motivated individual in this position will examine the effects of this intervention on shelter dogs’ ultimate & proximate welfare as well as carry out other applied behavior & welfare research projects.
