Profile - Dr. Giuseppe De Rosa
Giuseppe De Rosa was born in Casoria (Naples) Italy on July 1st 1959. He is an animal scientist at the Department of Soil, Plant, Environment and Animal Production Sciences (Dipartimento di Scienze del Suolo, della Pianta, dell’Ambiente e delle Produzioni animali)" of University of Naples "Federico II"." Since 1985 his research activity has centred on farm animal behaviour and welfare. An extensive part of his work was related to behaviour, housing and welfare. He has gained experience on the utilisation and analysis of physiological, immune, behavioural, health and productive indicators of animal welfare. At European level he was involved, as national expert, in the Working Group of COST (European Co-operation in the Field of Scientific and Technical Research) ACTION 846 "Measuring and Monitoring Farm Animal Welfare". He was involved in the European project Welfare Quality® aimed to develop European standards for on-farm welfare assessment. At national level he is involved in the Italian Centre of Animal Welfare. Since 1990 he has joined the International Society for Applied Ethology (ISAE).
