Monday 13th March – Grant Writing and Reviewing Workshop (BBSRC-funded)

The purpose of the workshop is to provide training on reviewing grants, sitting on a research committee and writing successful grant applications. The morning consists of talks and discussion panels on topics such as “Reviewing grants” and “Dealing with unsuccessful applications practically and psychologically”. In the afternoon there will be mock BBSRC committee panels at which delegates will be expected to present a real grant, which they will have had the opportunity to review beforehand. We anticipate that this workshop will be useful whether you are already writing grants or not.

The workshop will include lunch and a drinks reception and will be followed by an evening meal.

Tuesday 14th March – Second Annual AWRN Meeting

This is a great opportunity to meet other Animal Welfare researchers and hear about their current research. The meeting will include a Spotlight on Aquaculture Welfare, speed networking, updates on the work of the network, details of upcoming events, posters on current research in the field and parallel workshops to cover topics like ‘Challenges faced by Early Career Researchers’, ‘Neuroscience and Animal Welfare Techniques’ and ‘The Power of Power’ (not all confirmed yet).

The meeting will include lunch and refreshments.
